Possible Activities:
- Use the conductivity probe to monitor levels of dissolved
solids in a local body of water. Use in conjunction
with other probes to evaluate the quality of the body of
water
- Examine the effect that certain household substances have
on electrical conductivity. (Suggested materials: salt,
baking soda, vinegar, tap water, distilled water, etc...)
Determine which substances are electrolytes and which are
non-electrolytes
- Use the conductivity probe to examine the relationship
between ion concentration and electrical conductivity. Is
conductivity only dependent on the ion concentration, or
are there other factors to consider?
